To offer to share my burden,
Though you had nothing to gain
You helped to alleviate my pain,
Now my only wish
Was that I had time to do the same.

No words could convey
The things I needed to say
But all my gestures were not in vain
You knew the warmth of words
Were just metaphors
For the beauty you inspired.

And even as I write these words
I know that you will never be gone
Because your memory
Will always be something to call upon
In times of joy
And times of despair
In times of need
And times of hope
Your example still lights the way
For a brighter tomorrow
And a more loving today.
