Dear Tracey, Mabel and Johnny,
I am so incredibly sad to hear about Allan passing away. I was so terribly fond of him and so grateful to have met Allan through Jerry Springer the Opera, and spend time with him in New York and London when he was here. I know how much he loved you and adored the kids.
I am just so terribly sad and send you so much love at this time.

In the days and months following my husbands death a quote from Dr Seuss offered me so much comfort ... " Don't cry because it's over... Smile, because it happened". My sympathy Tracey.

Dear Tracey, Mabel and Johnny,

I was lucky enough to work at SelecTV many years ago. Even today, it is one of the best companies I have worked for and most of that was down to the amazing people I worked with. Topped off by Allan of course. The whole office would step it up a gear when they knew he was going to be around, his energy was infectious. Even though contact with him has dwindled over the years, his belief in me when I was just starting out stayed with me and inspired me to achieve. There are still regular gatherings of the old SelecTV crowd; writers, producer, runners and everyone in-between meet and chat so fondly about Allan and those golden days. Next time we do that, we’ll raise a glass (or possibly two!) in his honour. Deepest sympathy to you all. Mia Jupp x

Claire Edgar To Tracey, Mabel and Johnny. It is a good few years since I worked for Allan at SelecTV and Alomo but they were certainly the most exciting and dynamic of my working life and that is largely down to the extraordinary character that was Allan. I have rarely met someone with such energy and charisma, he took charge of any room he walked into. He was funny, irreverent, clever, bold and sometimes a bit scary but he was never, ever dull. What a great thing to say about both a boss and a husband and dad! Although he could be pretty tough he could also be extremely kind and compassionate and I experienced this myself many times. He gave people a chance to grow and shine and in the world of television he was a true pioneer, which inevitably meant having to make hard choices at times. Most of all, I have rarely met someone who took more pride and joy in his family than Allan and this underpinned everything he did. I send you my deepest condolences in memory of a man whose piercing blue eyes made me a tad nervous on more than one occasion but who made me hoot with laughter and inspired all of us who worked for him on a regular basis. Claire Hinson. x
