Philip Riemenschneider, 34, of Afton, died Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at the Greater Regional Hospice Home in Creston. Services will be 10:30 am Friday, December 23, 2011 at the Arispe United Methodist Church. Pastor Joel Sutton will officiate. Burial will be in the Abel Cemetery northeast of Arispe. Open visitation will be 2 pm to 8 pm Thursday with family receiving friends from 6 pm to 8 pm Thursday at the Powers Funeral Home in Afton. Memorials are to be established in his name. Philip James Riemenschneider was born February 25, 1977 in Des Moines to Julie Ann (Horton) Riemenschneider. He graduated from Clarke High School in 1995. Philip was united in marriage to Brenda Lou (Cheers) on September 4, 1999 in Afton, Iowa. He worked as mechanic for the Farmers Coop in Afton. Philip also helped farm with his father in-law in the Afton area. Philip attended the Arispe United Methodist Church, was a member of Afton Lions Club, Frank's Coffee Crew and Arispe Development Corporation.

Philip is survived by his wife, Brenda of Afton; three children, Mattie, Owen and Ronnie at home; his mother, Julie Horton (friend Eli Weir) of Osceola; brother, Jeff (Bethany) Riemenschneider of Murray; sister, Kim (husband Tim) Jackson of Osceola; father and mother in-law, Ron and Mary Lou Cheers of Afton; maternal grandparents, James and Rosalee Horton of Osceola, three sisters-in-law, Sarah (husb. William) Long of Afton, Ronda (husb. Jason) Driskill of Creston and Callista (husb. Nick) Wilkey of Afton, many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Kenneth and Loretta Riemenschneider.
