He met Helene Pollack at a roller skating rink in Brooklyn and the two were married on February 21, 1941. Together they had four surviving children: Linda Duerr Gardner of Clarkdale, AZ, Emil Filoseta of Cottonwood, AZ, Michele Filoseta Viscecchia of Freeport, NY and Joseph G. Filoseta of Seattle, WA.

Joseph worked in the hospitality business for his entire career, learning the business first as a bell hop and retiring in 1984 as the General Manager of a group of five hotels. Joseph and Helene moved to Saratoga Springs in 2001 to be closer to the 13 grand children, 8 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren that they enjoyed.  Shortly after Helene died in July of 2007, he moved to a small private golf course community in Cottonwood, AZ to enjoy the final chapter of his long and wonderful life playing golf and making new friends. Joseph was an active member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks for 44 years. His nearby local Lodge Jerome, AZ is planning a life celebration event and dinner.

Joseph was loved by the people whose lives he touched. He was a quiet gentle man with an unwavering love of life. He will be missed by family and friends alike.
