Beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away Thursday, May 24, 2012 at the Cartwright Hospice Residence. Age 66 years. The son of the late George and Edith (McIntyre) Doak, George was born November 30, 1945 in Jackson, Michigan. He married Dorothy Sienko, his loving wife of 45 years, on July 2, 1966. She survives him. George served in the U.S. Army Reserves for six years. He was employed at General Motors for 43 years until his retirement in 2006. He then worked at Bronner’s CHRISTmas Wonderland for six years. He was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council #4232. George was active in scouting and enjoyed fly-fishing and amateur radio. Surviving besides his wife Dorothy are one son and one daughter, Jeffrey and Lori Doak, Chesterfield, Michigan; Ann-Marie and Terence Reif, Chandler, Arizona; three grandchildren, Amanda, Jacob and Lucas; two brothers, William and Bobbie Colbath, Reno, Nevada; Donald Colbath, Saginaw; George’s brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John and Nora Sienko; Margaret Sienko, Donald Sienko and Joseph Sienko; many nieces, nephews and cousins; his beloved canine companion, Pepper. Funeral Liturgy will take place 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at St. Helen Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Ronald Wagner will officiate. Honoring Mr. Doak’s wishes, cremation will follow. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Monday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and at St. Helen Catholic Church on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass. There will be a Vigil Service 3:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Helen Catholic Church or the American Cancer Society.
